On August 10, I am launching a free PDF version of a book I have written one page at a time over the past year. It’s been an incredibly fun experience, first because it became part of my rain-or-shine writing routine, second, because, like a game, it came with rules, (280 characters + a one word prompt), and third, because I was doing this in the company of hundreds of other writers in the Twitter #WritingCommunity via Vss365 Today.
Even though I’m in the process of finishing a third novel, micro-fiction has taken me by storm. I love it the way one enjoys hitting a target over and over again until the dart lands dead center. I am fascinated by how cadence and meaning complement one another for that single instant, how sound is color, and how a single image rendered with only a few words can suggest a whole world.
As an illustrator, I also enjoyed creating its cover and the twelve illustrations, one for each month. This is what I’m up to right now. If you want to see the book you can find it here.
